Jan 1     We went to church this morning. This evening I took the car to town to have it worked on. Cloudy cool day.

Jan 2     Nothing done today. We went to town this evening. Cloudy cool day.

Jan 3     We went to church this morning, also went tonight. Cloudy drizzly day.

Jan 4     Nothing done this morning. This evening I went over to Lawrence Stewart's to shred corn and broke down. Fair cool day.

Jan 5     Today I am working on our touring car. Grinding valves and taking up bearings. Pleasant day.

Jan 6     I am still working on the car this morning. This evening Bess and I went to town. As we came home, we found Uri Uriah Hopkins lying in the ditch. Someone ran over him. I called the ambulance and Dr. Stem. I helped take him home. Pleasant day.

Jan 7     Nothing but chores done today. Fair warm day.

Jan 8     Nothing done today. Snowing all day.

Jan 9     Snowing some today. The boys took 20 bu corn to Glixner's to have it ground into feed. Bess and I went to town this evening.

Jan 10     We all went to church this morning. All home this evening. Cloudy cool day.

Jan 12     Snowy blustery day. This evening I went to Federal Land Bank Meeting at town.

Jan 15     Our 24th wedding anniversary. We went to town for dinner. Fair cool day.

Jan 19     This afternoon Bess and I went to John Euler's funeral at Vernon. Fair cool day.

Jan 20     This morning I went to town after a radio table sent from Roebuck. This evening I am putting up eve spouting on the barn. Fair cool day.

Jan 21     Nothing done today. Heavy snow fall today. Bess, Alice and I went to home talent show at town tonight. Alice sings a solo.

Jan 22     Nothing done today. Cold and snow. Very cold tonight.

Jan 23     10 below zero this morning. Nothing but chores today. We went to town this evening. Some warmer this evening.

Jan 24     The kids went to church this morning. All home this evening. Tonight we went to see Paw & Maw. She has been sick but is some better.

Fair cold day. Jan 25     Today we butchered 6 hogs and this evening I took 2 dressed hogs to town. One to Sam Young and 1 to Frank Klinten. Pleasant day.

Jan 26     Today Carson helped us cut the lard and cut the sausage. Cloudy some snow today.

Jan 27     Today I trucked 14 head of hogs to town shipped by Marsh. Blustery some snow fall today.

Jan 28     Today I rendered 26 gal of lard. Fair cool day.

Jan 29     Nothing but chores done today. Bess and I went to town this evening. We shipped Ed James 35 lbs sausage.

Jan 30     This morning we got up some wood. This evening we went to town. Pleasant day.

Jan 31     This morning we went to church. All home this evening. Rain all day.

Feb 1     Nothing done today. Warm and cloudy. The ground is very soft with a heavy thaw.

Feb 2     This morning Bess and I went to town and this evening I sawed wood for William Stewart. Cloudy cool day.

Feb 3     Nothing done today. Wet cold day.

Feb 4     George Carson is helping me cut logs for lumber. Cold cloudy day.

Feb 5     Same as yesterday. Cloudy cool.

Feb 6     I attended a Farmer's Meeting this morning. This evening I took Bess to town. Pleasant cool day.

Feb 7     We went to church this morning. Joe Miller & wife spent the afternoon here. Fair cool day.

Feb 8     Today I shredded Lawrence Stewart's corn and brought the machine home. Pleasant day.

Feb 9     Snowy blustery day. Nothing done.

Feb 10     Blustery day. Same as yesterday. Bess and I took 2 cans of cream to town this evening.

Feb 11     Nothing done today. This evening we went over to Alvin Marsh's to see Emmie D.K. She is there taking care of Edwin. He is sick. Fair warmer day.

Feb 12     This morning I hauled load of logs to town to have sawed into lumber. Began to rain and sleet about noon.

Feb 13     Carson is working today. We got up wood this morning. He split same this evening. Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day with rain tonight.

Feb 14     The kids went to church this morning. I took Stewart to Dr. Stem's this morning, he is sick. After dinner Bess and I went to Seymour to Joe Stewart's and brought Paw along home with us. Maw is at Indianapolis. The heavy rain all night put the creek out big today.

Feb 15     Nothing done this morning. This evening I took load of logs to mill at town. Fair cool day.

Feb 16     This morning I hauled load of logs to mill. This evening Paw and I hauled in 2 loads of linwood and sawed it. Fair cool day.

Feb 17     This morning I buzzed wood for Carson. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day.

Feb 18     Today J. G. Marsh and I were sent to Cincinnati as delegates to the Producer's Livestock Convention. Cloudy cold nasty day.

Feb 19     Nothing done today. I took Paw to Hayden, he went home after dinner.

Feb 20     This morning the boys took load of corn to Glixner to have ground for feed. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day.

Feb 2    1 We went to church this morning. All home this evening. This afternoon Charlie Kellermeyer and Minnie and Bertram drove in from Indianapolis. Pleasant day.

Feb 22     Nothing done today. I went to town this evening after truck to haul hogs tomorrow. Cloudy with snow tonight.

Feb 23     This morning I trucked 10 hogs to town. Cloudy chilly day.

Feb 24     Nothing done this morning. This evening I went to town after nails. Fair cool.

Feb 25     Yesterday morning Margery had a fine heifer calf. This morning I found her dead in the stable so Paw and I skinned her and dragged her out. This evening we were building new sow farrowing house. Cold cloudy very high winds.

Feb 26     Today Paw and I are building a new farrowing house. Pleasant day.

Feb 27     Nothing done today. Charles took Paw back to Seymour this evening. The balance of us went to town. Blustery day.

Feb 28     The kids went to church this morning. Then we all went to Lawrence Stewart's for dinner…a surprise, he was 59 years old yesterday. Fair cool day.

Mar 1     Nothing done today. Cold snowy day. Bess and I went to town this evening.

Mar 15     Today Carson took load of corn to Linkhart for me. Exchanged for feed, 60 cents per. Cloudy cold day.

Mar 16     This morning Carson hauled load of corn up on the Irish Road. This evening he took load to Linkhart at town. Blustery March day.

Mar 17     This morning I hauled in 2 loads of wood. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day.

Mar 18     This morning Carson took Litchfield at load of corn, 60 cents. I cut poles for wood this evening. We sawed wood. Pleasant day.

Mar 19     This morning I took Litchfield load of corn. This evening we are taking in the state basketball report over radio. Pleasant day.

Mar 20     Nothing done today. Blustery day.

Mar 21     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Cold blustery day. Grandma Burgmeyier died at 11:25 a.m.

Mar 22     Nothing done but chores. Rained all day. Bess and I sat up at Henry's tonight.

Mar 23     Worked around home this a.m. This p.m. I helped dig Grandma's grave in Hayden Cemetery. Nice day.

May 24     This a.m. went to Grandma's funeral. After noon sawed wood for Ralph Hess. Nice weather.

Mar 25     Carson and I set posts in the park fence and buzzed wood in the p.m. Cool day.

Mar 26     This a.m. I worked in the graveyard and p.m. Bess and I went to Columbus. Bad blustery day.

Mar 27     The boys hauled manure all day. Bess and I went to town this p.m. Cold blustery day.

Mar 28     I went to communion this morning. The children went to late mass. This p.m. Bess and I went up to see where the woman was killed Saturday. Grace & Alvin was here this p.m. Fair cool day.

Mar 29     This a.m. cleaned the brooder house and ready for the little chicks. This p.m. Carson and I hauled posts and repaired the park fence. Fair warm day.

Mar 30     This morning Bess, Alice and I went to John Langenhurst's funeral at St. Mary's. This evening Carson is splitting wood and I repaired the manure spreader. Cloudy cool with rain this evening.

Mar 31     Nothing done today. Cold blustery day. I went to town this evening after flour and chick feed.

Apr 1     Today I sawed wood for Patton. Cloudy cool day.

Apr 2     This morning I finished Patton's sawing and sawed little at home. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day.

Apr 4     Easter Sunday. We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Sade & Jemima Stewart were here this evening. Pleasant day.

Apr 5     Today we are getting up wood. Carson is helping. Pleasant day.

Apr 6     Rain last night and this morning. Ed James and Patton and Ava spent the day here. Cloudy cooler this evening.

Apr 7     Carson and I are hauling in poles for wood today. Began to rain about 3 p.m.

Apr 9     Today I trimmed fruit trees and repaired the spray pump. Sawed some wood this evening after the boys came from school. Fair cool day.

Apr 17     Carson and Charles are hauling out manure today. I took Strickland load of corn this morning and brought home load fencing, field and yard fence. This evening I put up new front yard fence. Alice & Bess went to town this evening. Cloudy cold day.

Apr 18     We went to church this morning. This evening Bess and I went to Seymour to see Paw & Maw. Fair cold day.

Apr 19     This morning Carson and I hauled load of corn fodder home bought from Hough 25 cents per shock. Then Carson began to disking for oats. I went to town this evening after seed oats. Fair cold day.

Apr 20     Today Carson is disking. Charles is driving the tractor disking and harrowing. I am drilling oats. Fair cool day.

Apr 21     I finished drilling oats today noon. 12 acres. Carson is disking the garden. We planted bu potatoes in garden this evening. Pleasant day.

Apr 22     Carson not working today. I disked the orchard this morning. Began to rain at noon. This evening I am doing some plastering in the kitchen and painted the ceiling in kitchen. Colder tonight.

Apr 23     County Agent Potts is helping me test seed corn. Fair cool day.

Apr 24     I am attending a Farmer's Feed Store Meeting today. Carson and Charles are hauling out manure today. Cloudy cool day.

Apr 25     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Fair cool day.

Apr 26     Today Bill Boner and Carson helped build new field fence between Boner and myself. Fair cool day.

Apr 27     We are building fence this morning. Rain this evening. Carson split wood. Bess and I went to town.

May 1     The boys took load corn to Wm Glixner and had ground for feed. Carson sowed oats in orchard. I am taking the seed corn out of tester. This evening Charles and Carson are hauling out manure. I went to town. Fair hot day.

May 2     We went to Joe Stewart's birthday dinner today. Pleasant day.

May 3     This morning I plowed the potato patch. This evening I took load of corn to town. Sold to Farmer's Cooperative Feed Store. Pleasant day.

May 4     This morning I traded our Ford Touring Car for a new sedan. This evening Bess and I went to the Primary at Hayden. Pleasant day.

May 5     Today Carson and I are planting the potatoes. Joe and Sade Stewart were here today. Pleasant day.

May 6     This morning Carson and I finished the potato patch and this evening we began to take off stocks. Pleasant day.

May 7     Carson and I are taking off stocks today. Pleasant day.

May 8     Today we finished taking off stocks. Carson worked til noon. The stocks is all off and drift piled and burned. Hot, threatening rain this afternoon.

Mar 9     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Some rain today.

Mar 10     This morning Bess and I went to Seymour, she had her glasses changed. This evening Dock St. John loaded 15 hogs in truck for Indianapolis. Heavy rainfall today.

Mar 11     This forenoon I began to plow for corn. Fair cool day.

May 12     This morning we are plowing. Carson is harrowing. This evening I began to plant. Fair cool day.

May 13     Holy Day. We went to church this morning. Charles and I are plowing in Betsy Bottoms this evening. Fair cool day. This morning at 4 o'clock Dodie Burns died at Woodward's home.

May 14     We are plowing today. Fair cool day.

May 18     We are plowing harrowing and planting today. Little rain today. The Klingner Sales Co. delivered me a new double tractor disk this morning.

May 30     We are all home all day today. Hot sultry.

May 31     Had a good rain this morning and another about 4 o'clock this evening. I plowed a while after dinner for Lawrence Stewart. Charlie Kellermeyer & Minnie and Maw were here today.

Jun 1     This morning Bess and I went to Mrs. Nick Magel's burial at Four Corners at 7 o'clock. Then we went to N. Vernon to Rev. A. J. Springler's silver jubilee. Cloudy threatening day. The creek is out in low bottoms this morning.

Jun 2     This morning I am repairing fence. This evening I went to Indianapolis as a delegate to State Convention. Fair warm day.

Jun 3     I am at Indianapolis today. Came home late this evening. Some rain today.

Jun 4     We began to plow corn today. Fair warm day.

Jun 5     Charles is plowing today in Betsy Bottoms. Bess and I went to town this evening. Fair warm day.

Jun 6     We went to church this morning. Uncle Will Bertram and wife were here today from Oklahoma. Bess and I took them driving this evening. Hot sultry with little rain this evening.

Jun 7     I am plowing for Lawrence Stewart today. Warm high winds today.

Jun 8     This morning I finished plowing for Lawrence. This evening I plowed truck patch and planted sweet corn. Fair warm day.

Jun 9     Today we put up alfalfa hay which I bought off Hat Sullivan and Hough. $8 per ton. Hot sultry day.

Jun 10     This morning we finished the hay, put up 10 tons. This evening Charles cut our own hay. I plowed corn. Fair hot day.

Jun 11     Charles and I plowed corn in Long Bottoms this morning. This evening Stewart and I put up 2 loads of hay. Charles plowed corn. Little rain this evening.

Jun 12     This morning Stewart and I finished our alfalfa. Charles is plowing corn all day. I went to town this evening. Hot sultry day.

Jun 13     Uncle Willie & Aunt Phoebe and I went to Four Corners to church this morning. The children went to town this evening. We went to Seymour to see Paw and Maw. Hot sultry day.

Jun 14     This morning Charles plowed corn. I repaired fence on the creek bank. Had a good rain at noon. Bess and I went to town this evening.

Jun 17     We plowed corn this morning. This evening Bess, Alice and I went to Columbus to shop. Fair hot day.

Jun 19     This morning Charles and I plowed corn. This evening at 3:20 Bess and I left for Chicago to attend the Eucharistic Congress. We got to Chicago at midnight. Pleasant day and night.

Jun 20     Today Bess and I attended the outdoor Eucharistic High Mass at Holy Name Cathedral Chicago. Very large crown of people. Pleasant day.

Jun 21     Bess and I are at Chicago. Leaving for home at noon. On the road all night, come by way of Seymour and got home at 6 this morning.

Jun 22     I am putting up fence across the meadow this morning. This evening we are plowing. Pleasant day.

Jun 23     We are plowing corn today. Pleasant day.

Jul 5     Another rain this morning. Too wet to plow. I went to town this morning for repairs and repairing the mowing machine. Hot threatening day.

Jul 6     We are hoeing weeds this morning. This evening Charles and I began to lay by corn. Hot sultry day.

Jul 8     The boys are laying by corn today. Hot sultry day.

Jul 9     Little rain last night. Too wet to plow corn this morning so we hoed weeds this morning, laying by this evening. Warm threatening day. Tonight the neighbors gave Alice & Herschel a big shivaree.

Jul 10     A heavy rain and storm last night. Too wet to work in corn. Fair cool day. We went to town this evening.

Jul 11     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. The Webster Family was here for supper and spent the evening here. Fair cool day.

Jul 12     This morning I went to town after a new feeder for thrashing machine. The boys hoed weeds. This evening we are laying by corn. Fair cool day.

Jul 13     The boys are laying by corn today. Fair cool day.

Jul 14     Charles and I are plowing corn today. Fair cool day.

Jul 15     This morning Charles and I are plowing corn. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cool day.

Jul 16     Charles and Stewart are finishing laying by corn today. This evening at 3 o'clock I loaded 23 hogs on Neumister's truck and he hauled them to Indianapolis. I went along. I stayed at John Helmer's tonight. Fair warmer day.

Jul 17     I am at Indianapolis today. Came home tonight. Fair warm day.

Jul 18     We went to church today. This evening we went to Ed Baker's and then on to Seymour to see Paw & Maw. Warm fair day.

Jul 19     We are cutting oats. Fair hot day.

Jul 20     This morning we finished the oats and began to take up hay, 3 loads. Hot sultry day.

Jul 21     Hough is helping us put up hay, 6 loads today. Very hot day.

Jul 22     We put up 4 loads hay this evening. Hot day.

Jul 23     Little rain last night. This morning the Euler Ford thrasher men are trying to put new feeder on our thrasher. Didn't finish it this evening. We finished haying, 3 loads. Hough helped us. Fair hot day.

Jul 24     Nothing done today. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair hot day.

Jul 25     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Fair hot day.

Jul 26     This morning we are putting up fence along the road so we can pasture the meadow. This evening Charles cut down the alfalfa. I went to town this evening. I sold 3 cows to Clyde Hare. They went to Bloomington. Warm cloudy, rain tonight.

Jul 27     Today I am working on thrashing machine. A man from Indianapolis doing the work putting on a new feeder. Fair warm day.

Jul 28     We are still working on the thrasher today. Hot sultry day.

Jul 29     This morning Howard Childs finished putting new teeth in thrasher and moved it up to his house. We are putting up the alfalfa. Hot sultry day.

Jul 30     Today we are thrashing at the H. Childs'. Hot sultry day.

Jul 31     Today we are thrashing for Fred Otis. A rain about 3 o'clock stopped us. Had yet 2 loads to thrash. Hot sultry day.

Aug 1     We went to church this morning. Went to Seymour this evening. Fair warm day.

Aug 2     Bess and I went to town this morning. This evening I finished thrashing Fred Oachs. Hot sultry with some rain. Raining tonight.

Aug 3     Heavy rain fall last night. I am mowing weeds this morning. This evening Bess and I went to town. Hot sultry day.

Aug 4     This morning I went to town. This evening I thrashed the man on Shafer's place and moved to Stewart Euler. Hot sultry day.

Aug 21     Some rain this morning. This evening Bess and I went to Sam Swarthout's funeral at Hayden. Hot and threatening this evening.

Aug 22     We went to church this morning. Went to Ed Stewart's for dinner. It is Ernest's wedding dinner. Then after dinner we all went to White River at Seymour to see the river where Ray Sullivan and his partner were drowned last Friday night. Fair hot day.

Aug 23     Today we thrashed George Horstman and moved to Poor's. Hot sultry day.

Aug 24     Rain this morning. Bess and I went to town this evening. Fair this evening.

Aug 25     This morning Charles is disking wheat ground. This evening we thrashed Dell Poor's. Fair cooler day.

Aug 26     Today we went to the Jennings County Field Picnic. Fair warm day.

Aug 31     Today Charles is harrowing wheat ground. I went to town this evening. Cloudy warm day.

Apr 28     This morning Stewart and I set the onions, sowed lettuce and radishes. Planted peas and beans. This evening we planted the potatoes. Fair warm day.

Apr 30     Some rain today. We went to town this evening. Tonight Bess and I went to Seymour to birthday party given on Joe Stewart. He will be 49, May 2.

May 2     Very bad weather for May, nothing but chores done this week. Lots of rain. No plowing done.

May 8     The hardest rainfall this morning I ever saw. The water poured over the pike in Indian Creek. Bottoms two feet deep for one hour. Lightning struck the hog house and killed 18 head of hogs. We didn't go to church this morning. Cloudy cooler this afternoon.

May 9     This morning Frank Mallot was here to appraise the hogs that were killed by lightning. Appraised at $240. This afternoon I stayed close to help load the dead hogs on truck to be hauled away. Fair cool day.

May 10     Today Charles and I arranged a new pen for the pigs to be weaned and shut them therein. Fair cool day.

May 11     Nothing but chores done today. Some rain this morning.

May 12     This morning we re getting ready to plow. Began just fore dinner and plowed this evening. The feed lot back of the barn. The ground is still wet. Cloudy warm.

Dec 6     This morning I finished shredding for Will Randall and moved home. This morning Tom husked load of corn. This evening he sledded some drifted shocks to the hogs. Cloudy cold.

Dec 7     Nothing done today. Cloudy cold day.

Dec 8     Holy Day. We went to church this morning. Cloudy cold day.

Dec 9     Cloudy cold day. Doing chores this morning. This evening Tom and I are sawing some wood.

Dec 10     Today the boys are husking corn. Bess and I went to town. Cloudy cool with some sleet this evening, raining tonight.

Dec 11     We went to church this morning. Home this evening. Rainy cloudy day.

Dec 12     Rainy day. Bess and Tom and I went to Seymour this afternoon.

Dec 13     Nothing done today. Hard rains today and tonight. Creek is rising fast.

Dec 14     The creek is very high this morning. The boys didn't attend school today in order to go hunting as the game is all forced out of low ground. Cloudy cool day.

Dec 15     Nothing done today. Cloudy colder day.

Dec 16     Nothing done this morning. This evening Tom and I cleaned the stable and hauled out same. Cold cloudy day.

Dec 17     Today we are pulling flooded corn for hogs. The corn is in very bad shape. This morning Charles took Henry Tonkey a 285 lb hog. $25.65. Bess and I went to town this evening. Fair cold day.

Dec 18     We went to church this morning. All home this evening. Alice and Herschel were here today. Fair cold day.

Dec 19     Tom and I are pulling off corn today. Fair cool day.

Dec 20     Same as yesterday, pulling corn. Fair cold day.

Dec 21     Same as yesterday. Late this evening I pulled the shredder over to William Branham. Fair cold day.

Dec      Today I shredded 240 bu corn for Branham and moved home tonight. Tom finished the stock corn today. Have yet 200 shocks. They are in bad shape. Fair cool.

Dec 23     Today Tom and I shredded few shock of corn. It is all frozen to the ground. Fair cool day. Tonight Tom quit work. He has just worked 3 months. He goes home for Christmas.

Dec 24     This morning I went to town. This afternoon Bess and I went to Mrs. Henry Hargesheimer's burial at Teacreek. Went to town tonight. Fair cool day.

Dec 25     We went to early mass this morning. Home all day. Mrs. Denton spent the day here. Beautiful Christmas day.

Dec 26     Nothing done today. This evening I moved the shredder to Ed Murphy. Fair cool day.

Dec 27     Today Charles and I are shredding corn for Ed Murphy. Fair warmer day.

Dec 28     Today I attended an Annual County Farm Bureau Meeting and was elected County Chairman. Rainy bad day.

Dec 29     Nothing done today. I went to town this evening. Bess entertained the Zion Ladies' Aid. Warm cloudy day.

Dec 30     Nothing done today. Dark cloudy day.

Dec 31     Cloudy cold blustery day. Bess and I went to town this evening. Tonight Bess and I went to card party at Mrs. Denton's at town. Very cold tonight.
